Children of God
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." ~ Matthew 5:9

With both Markus and Harim finished, the young ones come in and sit before me. I hadn’t considered speaking with them but they seem to be eager to participate, or at least curious.
However, their silence takes hold of me in a way that prompts a question, “Are you two siblings?”
The boy, Eronadel, speaks up, “We’re not sure.”
“Not sure? Why is that, if I may ask?”
There is hesitation that befalls Eronadel as he looks to the girl, Vesper, to see what her reaction is. She has her eyes glued to the wooden floorboards, silent, with fear present.
“It is alright if it’s a difficult subject, we do not need to discuss further. May I ask why you entered here and sat down, though?”
Eronadel perks up, “Well, Mark and Harim got to talk to you, and Mark said things about you that are… um… weird, so Ves and I want to hear more about what you are talking about and, um… Jesus?”
I smile and recall a psalm, proverb, and something that Christ had said…
“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.” ~ Psalms 127:3
“Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” ~ Proverbs 22:6
But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” ~ Matthew 19:14
“So you two are curious about the,” I use my fingers to make air quotes, “weird old man that has come in and speaks of Jesus Christ?”
They both nod, ready to get their turn with me. I can’t help but smile and look to You, my Lord. How wonderful to be a child again, to hear Your words like I once did. Now I’m old and can feel my bones beginning to scrape against each other, yet, You bring before me children whom I can see Your creations through in a new light. Thank you, my Lord.
“Are you praying?” Vesper breaks her silence. My smile does not cease as I slowly pass my gaze onto her, “Yes, I just was thanking the Lord for bringing me here to meet you all, especially you two.”
“Can you teach us how to pray?” She quietly asks.
This causes Eronadel to bounce on his chair, “Oh, yes! We’d very much like to learn how to pray!”
A soft chuckle escapes my lungs, “Well, aren’t you two eager to start your relationship with Jesus?” I nod as my smile has not yet ceased, “I will teach you all how I pray, and how Jesus taught His disciples to pray. But first, I’d like to pray over you two, if you don’t mind.”
They both nod as I bow my head and lightly shut my eyes. Opening my right eye slightly, I check to see if they are doing the same and they are. Therefore, I begin my prayer over them…
Heavenly Father,
You have blessed me on this day, for You’ve brought to me eager disciples who are ready to learn Your powerful name and Words. Lord, may Your children, whom You’ve created and blessed be a light for others to see. A light for others to emulate, oh Lord. Just as I once heard Your teachings, may these children of Yours hear Your Spirit through me. May Your Spirit wash over them as they come to believe in the salvation You’ve graciously given us. Jesus, praise be unto You, for Your arms open wide for a warm embrace, so that Your children can come to You and rest. Thank you, Jesus!
In Your name, we pray…
Amen
Their voices each let out softly, “Amen.”
With their heads lifting, their teeth begin to show as they giggle at each other. Then I look towards the door and say, “Perhaps it’s time to call in Harim and Markus. I believe it’s time for our first teaching.”
Amen🙏🙏
Touched my heart ! Beautiful .
