Draw Closer to the Lord

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” ~ James 4:8 ESV

Every day and every night, I seek to have You by my side.

In all my ways, in all the fights,
I long to draw near to You when the timing is right.

For You came to seek and save on the hour of Your first coming,
and now You come again, soon,
and the Spirit within keeps me steadfast and ready
for the judgement of Your footstool.

With a new mercy, and a grace so deep,
I yearn to be wide awake when this flesh is so weak.

O Spirit within, billow out of this temple of Yours,
like a roaring flame ready to claim the souls that You've placed
for Your son to have saved!

With praise and thanksgiving,
of cherished rays from the Light which You've released,
the awe of You is enough to remind me of just how deeply You move.

Thus You say, “Now that you’ve drawn near to Me, I shall surely draw near to you.”
