Surrender to You
"Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." ~ James 4:7 NASB
There’s a mountain so tall I dare not face the climb.
Why on this path am I struggling to hear?
Is it that this mountain is a place where You won’t draw near?
Or could it be that I’ve run out of time…
My cause for my fear is that all that time has been a waste,
but why should it matter if You take its place.
With my struggle in explaining my case to You,
all I hear is myself crying in continuing to replace You.
But You just set me down,
placing my heart at ease with the flow of all these melodies.
“Surrender My son, you know it is done.
This wrestling is just giving more fuel to the enemy.
Close your eyes and he will flee.
There is much more work in store that you’ll get to see.”
But why, my Lord, must I lose this case?
I planned for You to take glory in its space.
“No My son, have you not heard? I say once more,
there is much more in store.
Just wait and see,
and you’ll claim victory!”
So what should I do?
Explain that I surrender and watch things fall about
as they are so tender.
“You know in your heart what must be done.
Just know I am here, and your burden is Mine.
Now pick up your feet and ascend up that climb.
And I will be with you in all space and all time.”
Thank You my Lord, for I know You are with me.
I place my trust in You so You can claim my victory.
I surrender my kingdom, in all that it has.
With my next steps, I’ll ascend up that path!
